Next Steps
Ok, so operation Church Recon is underway; you've attended a few services, perused the info table, and maybe even ventured into joining us for coffee & pastries in the gym. Now what? If you're like most of us, you're probably looking for some kind of direction or pathway into getting connected with the family of Crosscurrent. Below are a few very practical steps into how you can move from just dropping in on a service into building relationships.
a) Join The City. Relax. There's no commitment, we aren't going to be all up in your business. You can still be a fly on the wall and continue investigating. Here's why you should join: so you'll know of opportunities to connect. Seriously. This is what we use for all Crosscurrent communication. Ladies gatherings, men's outings, church-wide events, etc. Simply being aware of this information will help you discover opportunities to get involved. You can preview The City here. To get an account, shoot a quick email to Shawnea and she'll send you an invite. After you receive the invitation, follow these steps.
b) Check out a Community Group. That's right. Time to cowboy up and walk into a living room or a backyard BBQ. Community Groups are in many ways the backbone of Crosscurrent Church: this is the environment & setting in which we are living out the mission of making disciples & restoring the city. On Sundays we gather as one body; Monday through Saturday we're living in Community Groups.
c) Get on a Ministry Team. Here's the bottom line: if you're to the point where you're calling Crosscurrent Church you're home, then you need to be serving on a ministry team. Every Sunday gathering requires upwards of 40 people serving so that others may be ministered to. The identity of a servant is directly connected to our new identity in Christ. Contact a ministry team leader and join us in serving at our gatherings!
d) Become a Partner. It's time to make this thing official. We won't rehash everything discussed in the link, but becoming a Partner is much like a marriage commitment: for better or for worse, this is our home, this is our body, and this is our mission. We hold a few Partnership classes each year, so be on the lookout for the next opportunity!
