Disciples
We
are followers of Jesus, which means we are learning to be more like him.
Key Idea: As
the ultimate authority, Jesus calls us to come follow him, learn of him, and obey him. As disciples we are continually submitting the entirety of our lives to his authority. We must be committed to learning from him and being led by
him; we must be teachable and humble, recognizing that his rule, will, and commands are good. As we take the posture of a disciple, he is teaching
us to be more like him in every area of our lives: our homes, our jobs, our
sports, and our hobbies. Practically, we will learn and be led through
communicating with him in prayer, listening to him as we read and study the
Bible, and by carefully examining ourselves when we hear the teaching and
preaching of God's Word.
